Just to be sure, are you certain you downloaded the PPC version, rather than the Intel version?

Hello!
I've got the exact same OS and Safari browser as described above, and I'm having the exact same problem. I've attempted to download and re-install the Flash Player and Shockwave plug-ins, but I keep getting the same error message as agauche was getting. Any advice? Thanks.

uninstalling, reinstalling, finding plug-ins, etc. etc. none of this seems to work.

what's the deal with flashplayer 9? this shockwave flash plug in keeps failing to load.

I'm having the same happen Flash/Shockwave problems on both Safari and Firefox (all current updated versions running on Mac OS 10.4.10). What's weird is that I actually posted an embeded YouTube video on a Yuku board site IN Firefox that took and I saw it. Then immediately when I checked it out in Safari it wouldn't come up (showing that QT symbol with the question mark) and THEN it wouldn't work in Firefox. I'm posting here to add to the growing chorus of users having this problem on both browsers.

From Hawaiian_Starman in another discussion concerning QT not loading:

...Go to your System Preferences>Quicktime>Advanced panel. There, select "mime settings". When the panel opens, select "miscellaneous". Only Quicktime HTML ought to be checked. If others are checked, you may have found the problem. Correct as necessary. Select "done" to close the panel.

Restart Safari and try a QT video...


This not only solved my QT problem it solved the Flash/Shockwave problems with it! Thanks to Hawaiian_Starman for this solution.

I went here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
and downloaded the installer for Power PC (G5 having the exact problem).
Closed firefox and safari, ran the installer, checked both browsers, and it's all fine now.

To fix Quicktime’s inability to use Flash player, Mike at Apple support had me go into User, to library, find preferences, find Quicktime
find
com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist
drag it onto desktop
restart
try browser, it still did not work
next we went the same routine, drag QuickTime Preferences to desk top
restart and open browser --Success

I just read the message about the flash player 9 not working. I keep getting a MIMI type plug-in error. Did you experience this also and is your flash now working? What did you do?

I've tried everything in this thread, and still the flash won't work! It says I have the MIME problem. Tried with Safari and Firefox. No success.

I'm having the same problem. Running OS 10.4.10 with Safari 3.0.3. This crashing happens in all browers Netscape/Safari/Firefox/Seamonkey etc. I installed, re-installed Flash and Quicktime. I've checked boxes and unchecked boxes and nothing seems to works. HELP!!

I'm having the same problem, too. Have also tried all the solutions above, and nothing works. This is incredibly frustrating - I updated Quicktime and then all of a sudden, anything Flash just comes up with the Q and a question mark. Great update, obviously...
