Itune wont open when iphone connected.

When I plug my Iphone into the computer either Itunes wont open or if it's open it wont recognize the phone. The computer shows it's connected because it always asks when program I wont to use to look at the pictures. I have tried rebooting the computer and it doesn't help. My IPOD is recognized but not the Iphone. Help!!!

Did you download the newest version of iTunes?

MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I had the same thing. Here's what fixed it for me:
I had downloaded the latest iTunes (7.3) but because my existing copy of iTunes wasn't in the base, Applications folder, it didn't overwrite my existing iTunes application. Therefore, when you go to click on iTunes in your dock, or any desktop alias, etc., it's still opening the old version. Try opening the newly downloaded version (in the base, Applications folder) and try it again. I bet ya it'll work. 🙂

Same problem here. Upgraded to OS 10.4.10 and iTunes 7.3 (54). When I plug the iPhone into a USB jack on the front of the computer (not a keyboard jack) the iPhone powers up and makes a beep noise, but iTunes does not start up. And when I start up iTunes manually, it does not recognize that there is an iPhone connected. The iPhone is fully charged as I charged it from the AC jack. Any ideas?
