I am having the same problem. The Outlook iTunes Sync Addin will not stay checked or become active. I have also reinstalled the software and reinstalled the add in.

I sent an email to Microsoft Tech support to ask what needs to be done to fix this. I will post their reply.

Has anyone gotten their Outlook contacts in a PC into the iPhone???

I have the same problem. It continued to UnCheck itself so I removed it thinking that I could just add it later. Well, now its not there and I don't know what file to add (or where the file is on my computer).

FYI, my computer was syncing very nicely but there was a message popping up on the screen. I didn't write down what the message said, but it was referring to a plugin that was not working. It wanted me to "apply" (I think) or cancel. For awhile I continued to cancel but today I decided to apply and now the outlook sync is gone.

How do we re-install the syncing plugin??

I'm also unable to sync with Outlook 2003. Like someone else said, my Outlook shutdown right after I loaded iTunes 7.3. Also, the "Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" check box will not stay checked. I went looking for the file using the Location listed in the COM Add-Ins control panel, but the file does not exist at "C:\Program\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support...". I did a search on my hard drive for any file containing iTunes, outlook and addin and only found one .dll that matched, and that was for the other iTunes Addin called "itunesoutlookaddin.dll", and it was right where the Location said it should be. I think if I just had the corresponding "Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" .dll file I would be OK.

I found an answer for Outlook 2000 - not very elegant, but it worked. I use Mozilla Thunderbird, and had a old copy of Outlook 2000. I exported a .csv file to Outlook, but like you I could not sync the contact list. I created a .csv export file using Outlook 2000, then opened up Outlook Express which came with my copy of XP. I used the import feature to bring the contacts into Outlook Express. It did take a few tries to get all of the fields mapped correctly. When I went back to iTunes, I changed the Contacts sync selection to "Windows Address Book", and the Contact sync worked. Hope this helps!
