I get this error when trying to connect to Youtube on my wifi network. I think I read somewhere that youtube would only play on EDGE, but I just saw a video on Engadget where they played Youtube over their network. Anyone have any idea what's up?
Still haven't been able to get youtube. It doesn't work over edge or wifi. message only says "cannot connect to youtube." Is no one else having this problem?
I am having this exact same problem. Email works fine on WiFi or Edge and Safari also works fine. But I can not for the life of me get YouTube to connect. Whether I am on Edge or Wifi it doesn't matter.
My wife is having the same problem. My phone connects to Youtube without a problem on both EDGE and WIFI. Her phone, however, has never been able to connect to Youtube, though all other internet functions work correctly.
I see we're not alone, but I haven't found any possible solutions to this problem. I've tried resetting her phone, everything short of restoring it, and no luck.
Only difference between my iPhone and my wife's is the time it took to activate. Hers did not activate right away, while mine did. Though if that had anything to do with this Youtube problem, I would expect a lot more posts about it.
Don't bother with the restoration, It didn't rectify the problem. I too had to wait for my phone to activate. I was a Cingular customer and kept my current phone number.
I have been having the same "cannot connect to YouTube" message for days now. My phone also took a very long time to activate (42 hours actually). I don't have an answer yet for this one either. Still trying to get it fixed, just don't want to get back on hold for hours with iphone help. Anyone fixed this problem yet?
I would recommend scheduling an appointment with a genius at one of the Apple stores and have them flash the phone. I bought 3 phones and had some activation problems with one. I could not connect to youtube on it , nor could I establish a Yahoo! email connection. When I took it in, he flashed it at the store and it works fine now.
It would be helpful if you could clarify what the process of "flashing" is. Do you mean he restored the phone? If so, I have already tried that with no luck. Still no Youtube.
When you restored your phone, did you lose all the sms, etc. that you had on it? My wife really wants Youtube to work, and I'd be tempted to try restoring it, but she doesn't want to lose her sms history either.
If you look in the preference section of iTunes, in the iphone panel, you'll notice that the phone is backed-up. All you have to do is choose to add back the data after the restoration. There will be a prompt to ask if you want to restore the data.
