"Required file cannot be found"

I have tried many things now i kept reading about this problem because i got the same on my ipod... "The iPhone "..." cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found" It definetely has to do with the photos syncing because the music and videos have synced without a problem, i am trying to put the photos in the iPhone as well, but this comes up.

Couple of questions.
Do you have itunes syncing photos from a particular folder?

If you do, have you tried creating a new folder, put a couple of photos in and then sync the iphone. If it works, start moving photos over from the previous folder you were syncing to. Move a few photos and try to sync. keep repeating the process until you get the error message again.

If that still does not work, there might be an issue with the iPhone.
At that point you would want to try a reset then restore.
here is an article from the apple support website that will help.

Hello.

From what I can tell, it appears that this error has something to do with the way the photos are named. If I sync a small album of recently imported photos with default names (i.e. dsc_1234), I do not have a problem. If I try to sync photos that I have renamed (ones that have spaces or other punctuation), it does not appear to work. Perhaps it has something to do with the way iPhoto makes aliases of the original images when you edit them in any way. Not sure about that.

Note: I am on a mac using the newest version of iTunes and iPhoto 08.

I am guessing this is a simple bug and will be fixed with a future update, as there's no way I am renaming over 4000 photos. I have also read that keywords could have something to do with it, but I do not have any keywords in my library.

System Hardware:

iMac Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz with 4 GB of memory
Tiger 10.4.11
iTunes 7.5
iPod Touch 16 GB
iPhoto Library and iTunes Library are on a local disk

My wife and I are experiencing the same problem with our iPod Touch. However, we can consistently reproduce the issue. And there are some photo albums that do not work at all, no matter how many times you try. And either you get an error stating insufficient permissions or "required file cannot be found".

My wife and I share an iTunes Library (/Users/Shared/iTunes Library) and an iPhoto Library (/Users/Shared/Pictures/iPhoto Library). My first thought was that the permissions were out of whack on the iPhoto Library. I tried chmod and a couple of things on the iPhoto Library directory. I also created a blank disk image and copied the iPhoto Library into it (followed instructions for sharing iPhoto 6 Library). Again this didn't help. I didn't try to chmod the iTunes Library directory however.

So what file is missing? Where do I have insufficient privileges? I am wondering if I need to modify permission on the directory where the iPhoto files are optimized before import?

If I just knew:
1.) Where it reads from when selecting a Album to sync
2.) Where the data is optimized
3.) Where any other files are read or written to

If I knew all that then I think I might be able to figure out what is going wrong. Unless it is simply that the files are too long or that the images have too many keywords.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue. For an unknown reason, some events won't synchronize. First, I thought it was because of french characters in my event and photo names. But after making many tests, I didn't manage to find any involved character...

I am running iTunes 7.5, iPhoto 7.1.1 and iPhone 1.1.2

Any help would be very appreciated...

Thanks
