bluetooth headsets...jawbone or apple?

like the look of the apple headset but the jawbone might be better for driving in a sports car, since it cancels noise...any idea how well the apple might be at noise reduction? only issue is driving with it and getting the person on the other end to hear me!

I'm using Jawbone and I must say that noise cancellation works like advertised. I've had conversations where I'm in such a loud environment that I'm having trouble hearing the other person, but they're hearing me with very little interference just fine.

My only complaint about the Jawbone is that I can't get it to fit snug on my ear. The earloop is snug, but the earbud part of the Jawbone bounces loosely outside my ear. On the upside, the sound coming out of it is loud enough that I can still hear the conversation just fine, but it does not feel snug and secure.

I believe that's just me, though, as I've had a heck of a time finding "in-ear" headsets that fit me, regardless of make or model.

I haven't tried Apple's version, but having a recharge base that fits both the iPhone and the headset piece would be very handy!

Can you answer calls with the jawbone or do you have to pull out the iPhone?

*EDIT*
Found the answer:

There are two buttons on the Jawbone.

Button one: Answers calls and hangs up calls if you press it once. Turns the Jawbone off and on if you hold it for three seconds.

Button two: Toggles through the volumes if you press it once (there are four different pre-set volumes. I find this works better than a volume rocker). It deactivates/activates the Noise Shield if you hold it for three seconds.

Hope that helps!

I'm still using my Plantronics 510, but can anyone see a reason to buy the Apple one instead of the Jawbone? It's a bit sleeker, but for the same price ... Apple's better configure your phone and wipe your nose for $129. Now the Jawbone's website demo on their noise dampening is really impressive and probably worth $129, but there's been no announcement on the Apple one that gives me any idea why it's so expensive.

My two (opinionated) cents,

I also have the Jawbone and think the noise reduction feature is amazing! I highly recommend it but I have small ears and sometimes I really have to fiddle to get it to fit correctly.

It's worth noting, however, that I've had this problem with pretty much every headset I've ever tried using. :/

I don't think the Apple one will have many fancy features but it'll probably fit well because it looks like the earpiece is similar to the headset design. However, that hard earbud actually winds up hurting my ear after awhile. That's a real shame too, I would also love the dual dock and the smallness of the Apple headset. :/

there are two things that i don't like about my jawbone... it doesn't fit in my ear, but of course this is specific to my ear - i don't like that clip thing they provide and i seem to have extremely short battery life. on a road trip, i think the thing generally works for about 3 hours or so before the battery drains. i am assuming that this is abnormal. can other jawbone users chime in here? my favorite headset piece was by Etymotic, but is was not bluetooth. when the Apple piece comes out, i am going to see how it fits. it looks like it would be lighter than the jawbone, and that might help with my inability to keep the jawbone in my ear, since it is a bit larger.

ucs308,

No current bluetooth headset will let you hear music from the iPhone because the iPhone doesn't support the A2DP protocol.

I'm not sure what that means either, but that's the answer I've gotten from a couple of hours of researching bluetooth headsets.

I'm going with the Jawbone myself (ordered it today)...overall great reviews on that headset.

I own a Jawbone, and its been great for call quality, but the fit leaves something to be desired. I'm one of those people who doesn't want to have the headset hanging off my ear unless I'm on a call and the Jawbone is a pain to get on quickly. Even if I decide to wear it for a long period of time, I notice that it does start getting loose and I have to readjust it a lot. The ear clips tend to give a little after a lot of use and I have had to replace one already after a couple of months. I also miss the vibrate feature my BT250v had and the fit was great.

Just a note, the Jawbone does nothing to compensate for wind noise.

An Apple Store employee (no telling the reliability, take with box of salt) told me the Apple Bluetooth headset would support a mono-music profile allowing you to listen to all media streamed from the iPhone, not just phone conversations: music, video, podcasts, etc.

I think that would be pretty cool. Even though not a replacement for stereo, would be nice for podcasts etc.

I don't think Jawbone is capable of this, even as an upgrade.

From looking a the picture, it's hard to see how the Apple headset will be comfortable or fit will in the ear. Looks like a perfect round hard plastic earpiece that fits face-on into your ear.

I bought the Jawbone when I bought the iPhone. I could not get it to work at all. It seemed to pair okay but I could never get it to communicate with the phone. I took it back to the Apple Store and the sales guy could not get it to work either. I now have the Apple headset on order. I really wanted to like the Jawbone, as I liked its look, features, etc. but if it was that difficult to get it to link up, I imagined it wouldn't be so great on the go.
