Question

can you use unregistered iphone?

Hi, has anyone tried to just use the iPone as a WLAN, iPod and video player without setting up a cell phone service plan?

I mostly want the non cell phone features and may activate the cell features when and if the plans come down in price or if I can do a pay as you call plan.

i'm sure you could. no wait...not sure that you owould make it to the actual contents of the phone without activating it. would be nice, kinda like a minature laptop.

The iPhone is dead in the water without activating it through iTunes with an ATT consumer service plan/account with voice & data services. The minimum is US$59 a month.
Without that it is a US$499/599 emergency 911 phone with access to nothing else.

I saw on TV just about 10 minutes ago, yes, you may still use the iPhone without activating cell phone service. You can still listen to music and do other things I beleive they said.

just wondering, how so. i remember just staring at the thing waiting to get activated. it would have been nice if they told us there was a way. could have put a few songs and contacts on while waiting.

I thought you were just a 14 year old kid who didn't know much about the iPhone in your other post. Now you are an expert.
It does not do anything; music, photos, videos, etc without a minimum ATT serve activation.

OK, anyone know how to get it to activate without cell service plan? What happens if you end service early?

How about having service on old phone, with pay for hours and move that service and number to iphone without data service?

Seem to me they will sell a lot more if you can still use most features without cell service.
