I was playing with a tablet a couple of days ago, and got the "ink" menubar item installed in my system by double-clicking /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/Ink.menu. Now that I'm done playing, I can't figure out how to get the icon out of the menubar. I've turned off everything I can in the Ink System Preferences pane, including "show ink in menu bar", but the most I can do is get it to dim. Does anybody know how to just make it go away?
Try going to System Preferences/Hardware with the Tablet connected. Usually peripheral preference windows will have a check box at the bottom of the window that says: Show "tablet" status in Menu... like Print & Fax preferences, or Display. Also, if the option for the icon to be displayed isn't in Sys Prefs, can you launch the software you use with the Tablet and see if it has preferences???
In Ink Preferences > Settings, hitting the Restore Defaults button should do the trick. If that fails, try holding down your Command (Apple) key while you click and hold on the Ink pen icon. With the Command key held down, drag the icon off the menu bar until you see it go "poof." Good luck!
