Mac installer tries to install on "null" - update application

When I try to install any software using the installer I get an error message that I do not have enough space on the drive and then it tells me it tried to install on the "null" drive. How can I re-install the installer software or is this a known bug? I cannot find any references to this in the support forums.

Hi there,

exactly the same problem here.

Can't find any solutions anywhere. See your post dates back to July - you had any luck getting the issue resolved????

I can't get the computer to select any other drive to install to other than this phantom 'null' drive.

Help given greatly appreciated!

hello people.. having same problem here with Install packages... checked disk (disk utility, and disk warrior), no errors..
