default SIM PIN on iPhone???

Howdy all,

Does anyone know what the default SIM PIN is on the iPhone? In the SETTINGS menu under PHONE:SIM PIN, I am trying to turn the SIM PIN on, yet it keeps asking me for a password. It says I have 1 attempt left, so I don't want to enter a code until I am sure I have the right one. I've tried calling Apple and they transfer me to AT&T... and then AT&T transfers me back to Apple... and repeat.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks All.

Any Device specific information can only be provided
by APPLE CARE 1-800- MY IPHONE. AT&T only
troubleshoots network issues and checking to make
sure your Visual Voicemail is setup correctly in
their systems. Basically if you wanna know how to use
youriPhone, call APPLE!

True, but the SIM is an AT&T controlled component, not Apple. If you call AT&T CS about the default PIN, they currently don't know since it's not in the Apple manual. I even raised this up to a director level there. If you call Apple, they tell you call AT&T. No one wants this hot potato...

The default PIN needs to be put into the User Manual. It's inexcusable to leave it out since inserting the wrong PIN 3 times results in the SIM being blocked and a non-functioning phone until the PUK has been entered or the SIM replaced by AT&T.

Dont touch it, don't put in any pins, etc.

ATT/Cingular will lock up your phone if you mess with
the sim pins and then you have a paperweight until
they unlock it again for you.

Don't mess.

I'm sorry, but this isn't true.

The default PIN for the iPhone is "1111". As is most other Cingular/AT&T phones.

Even if you do manage to lock the SIM due to 3 failed attempts, call AT&T support to get the PUK code and you can unlock it and change the PIN.

The whole point of the PIN is to keep someone from stealing your SIM and making a bunch of fraudulent calls charged to your account. Everyone should have their SIM locked.

Just have a warning for you though. I am on hold now
and have been for an hour and 27 minutes and
counting. Good luck getting a person

You dont have to call AT&T. You can get the PUK unlock code yourself from your account page at the AT&T Wireless page.

Good info PTBoater. I wish they had the default PIN listed there somewhere so the PUK would be unnecessary.
