I've been running with my router's WEP security disabled and my iPhone has been connecting fine to the wifi no problems... until today. Suddenly will no longer pick up my home wifi even with security disabled. It picks up the other free network on my street, but on mine it instantly defaults to EDGE. I've tried rebooting the phone, rebooting the router, switching in and out of airplane mode... can anyone help me figure out the problem?

Mac OS X (10.4.10)

The same this is happening to me also. From the day I got this phone and until last night my wifi was working great. now all it dose is search and never finds anything. Where is says "Choose a Network..." it will search and stop, search and stop. Nothing. This phone is really starting to **** me off. First the photos and that still dosen't work, now the wifi. whats next!! Apple support.. you have to be crazy to wait on hold for 1 hour and 30 mins. At$T store.. three just as lost as any one else.

Same thing with me. It was switching to my unsecured WiFi from EDGE as soon as I walked in the door...until today. For whatever reason, now it defaults to EDGE and doesn't switch to WiFi unless I manually make it happen.

I'm having the same problem. It was working fine on my home wifi network (Apple Airport Extreme N). This am the iPhone would not connect to wifi network. The settings showed that the phone was connected, however internet/mail functions would not work. I turned off wi-fi on the phone. And tried to restart wifi to no avail.

I used the "edge network" for about an hour, and then turned on wi-fi. Now it is working on the Airport network, but this is a real pain...

Did you power your phone off and then back on?

My iPhone does the same thing once in a while. Putting it into Airport mode for a few minutes and switching Airport mode off again usually clears it up. I never have this issue with my MacBook, they'll probably clear it up with an update. I connecting to a couple of wireless routers, a DLink DI-524 and an first gen Apple Airport.

I "reset" my network settings and now it flips back to WiFi when available.

i am having the same issue. mine worked for about the first 5 days, now, even when it says i am connected to wifi, it continues to use edge. i prefer wifi when available.

Let me be a bit more clear. I reset the "iPhone" network settings back to default or factory. Once this, it switched from Edge to WiFi, and all seems to be well. My email coming "in" and "out" was not affected by doing this.

Your not going to get any Apple help here - these forums are peer to peer. Call Apple Customer Support.

Has anyone exchanged there phone due to this problem? I reset network settings two days ago and solved the problem. Then today it is not going to wifi at home, but only edge. I am concerned and dont know if I should exchange the phone. I am worried this will keep happening and have read that this is probably a hardware issue that software updates will not fix. What to do??

Had the same problem. Unplugged the router and plugged it back in and all
    is good again.
