Calling Cards

Seeing as search isn't active, I can't find out if someone has already asked this. I am trying to set up my phone to use a calling card for calls to other countries. The calling sequence goes something like this:-

18001231234

then a pause

then a pin code followed by a pound e.g.

12341234#

Then a pause and the number to dial followed by a pound:-

011441234123123#

I can't get the iphone to dial if there are two pauses in the number. It works if I enter this as the number

18001231234,12341234#011441234123123

but I need to enter

18001231234,12341234#,011441234123123

a pause after the first pound. If I have that stored in my contact info, it won't even dial the number.

Anyone got it to work with calling cards yet?

Thanks

Mike

First there is no need to use caps
Nobody is screaming here

Second this is not an issue

The issue is dialing a foreign number in a proper way

1)on my previous phones based on location i set in the phone it would dial +44... or 011-44

2) I was also able to set based on location to dial calling card number. I.e. i don't want to store a number as 1-889 (calling card number) * 01144..... because if I am in UK i need to dial +44. I would like to set a location were phone knows I need to use a card.

Still any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. If I use the full number to the international destination (calling card number, pause, one, pause, PIN, pause, one, pause, number), the iPhone won't even start dialing.

If I limit the number to "calling card number, pause, one, pause, PIN", the iPhone will only correctly get me to the point where to enter the pin. It enters the PIN automatically, too, but it does it so slowly and/or slurs the digits together so much that the calling card provider cannot match it.

IMHO, these are clearly bugs in the iPhone.

The slow, "slurred" tones that are sent after a programmed pause are indeed odd. I only have one number in my contacts that dials a string after a pause. Most of the time, it goes through okay, but occasionally the system has trouble recognizing the digits my phone is sending.

Please be sure that you let Apple know that this feature is causing you problems at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I could work around this bug. This is not a general workaround but probably an AT&T specific method.

iPhone did not dial this. This was the regular sequence.
8001231234 ,1,0112123456789,123456789012
(AT&T toll free) pause 1 pause (the international number) pause (calling card number)

But, it did dial this.
8001231234 ,0112123456789#123456789012
(note the first 1 is dropped and a pound is inserted)

Depending on how fast the machine responds, you may get an error. Try a few times.
