Safari and Mail on my iPhone have been crashing alot over the last two days. It has been happening the most when I am on the "Edge" network. Safari seems to do it when I have 3 or more pages open. Mail crash when I try to send a "reply" message.
Is anyone else having these problems? Do you think that this warrants a call to Apple Care?
I have the same problem, mail crashes when I try to reply. Went to the Apple store in SF and they had no clue and said it was my mail provider and not the software (which it clearly is...)
I see the same problem when I try to load a pretty intensive web page. It's happened a couple times, but given the fact that the OS recovers pretty quickly, I would imagine it's just a software glitch.
They need to bring something out quick. I tried to send the same message like 7 times and it kept crashing. I was fairly determined at the time to get the email out. About 20 minutes later when I was home on my own wifi network the phone sent the message out 7 times.
I really need this aspect of the phone to work correctly. Its embarrassing for me to have to explain to my clients that yes, I do know how to use email. It was just a problem with the device that I am using. Especially since I am a web designer...lol.
I have the same problem, Safari crashes a lot when surfing in the Edge network. It is really annoying, looks like a software patch/update needs to happen soon. I'm going to call Apple Care tomorrow.
I see you have a mac -- if you use safari on it you should probably be familiar with safari crashes there too.
Safari is my favorite browser, it just has a habit of crashing.
Well - I'm seeing a very, very, unstable set of applications on my iPhone. Overall, I love the device. But surfing the web while listening to the iPod just does not work - the iPod crashes.
And even when it's the only application running, and connected via WiFi, Safari falls over after a few minutes browsing all the time, way more than it ever does on any of my Macs.
And there you go, the iPod has just crashed again while I've been typing.
Well it's good to know that I'm not the only one having the crashing problems on my iPhone. Although I beg to differ on Safari on my Macs. It never crashes.
Mac Pro, Power Book, Intel iMac, iPhone Mac OS X (10.4.10)
Do you get a crash report log when you connect it to itunes? Have you tried to re-sync it with itunes? I would suggest resetting and then adding your email accounts one by one.
Some ISP providers require you to be hard-wired to your router in order to send mail. You would not be able to send mail if you were on another network (such as Edge). However, you can receive inbound mail while not on your network. My DSL provider does this, and I can't send email if I'm not connected via my home router.
