I imported a bunch of CD's when I didn't have an internet connection. Now when I connect my laptop to the internet the info isn't being automatically acquired like when I import a cd while connected to the internet.
Can I get my computer to look online for the album info for all of these CD's now and if so how?
Sure, just right-click the song and choose 'download cover' (or similar, I am using a german version of iTunes). You can also select the option in the main menu bar. In order to download the covers, just make sure you are logged in.
That downloaded album art for all the albums I hade album name/artist/song title/etc info for already but the album name/artist/song title/etc info that was not automatically found and saved when I imported the cd's while not connected to the internet is still missing.
Will itunes ever automatically download this info or do I have to delete all these tracks (about 8 hrs of back to back cd importing {35 cds}] and re-import them while connected to the internet?
I think that iTunes needs the cd in order to recognize the titles. I am not 100% sure but I believe that there is no way to get titles for specific tracks in your iTunes library. Usually you import the titles right after inserting the cd.
If you RIPped the CDs using iTunes while you were not connected to the internet, it will not automatically get the songs later when you do connect.
Select the tracks with no info, then menu
Advanced -> Get CD track names.
That feature just is not feasible. In order for it to actually work, they would have to have a catalog of checksums and match it against that info. Different audio rips(different apps, and different bitrate settings) are going to have different checksums so this is just an nigh-impossible undertaking.
That feature just is not feasible. Sure it is. That's why it works.
Different audio rips(different apps, and different bitrate settings) are going to have different checksums so this is just an nigh-impossible undertaking. The only checksums it needs to get the artist/album info are the number of songs and the length of those songs in order.
Yes, so am I.
If the CD was previously RIPped with iTunes, select the album in iTunes then menu Advanced -> Get CD track info. It will get the info from Gracenote.
You don't need the CD inserted.
