Spinning wheel of death- trash won't empty computer won't shut down.

Since I got OS 10.4.10 I have been getting more and more problems. Now, when emptying the Trash I get the spinning wheel of death while the Trash "prepares" to empty for longer than I can hang around. To shut down the computer when I get the spinning wheel I have to hold down The Button as Force Quit won't work.

iBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Camino 1.5

Meantime try the following:

Problems with the Trash go here; go here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106272
Try holding down the Option key when emptying the Trash.

Try resetting the PRAM: Shutdown the computer and hold down the Command, Option, P, and R keys while Restarting your computer.

Use Disk Utility from your system restore disk(s) to verify the disk is ok.
