TURN OFF OLD CELL IF TRANSFERRING NUMBER FROM DIFFERENT CELL PHONE PROVIDER

You must turn OFF your existing Cell Phone BEFORE you try to activate the iPhone if you are porting your current cell phone number from a different cell phone company to AT&T and your new iPhone.

Until your old Cell Phone is turned off, the old company's computer has trouble releasing the old number to AT&T.

If you want to retrieve your messages, just call your cell phone number on a LANDLINE (not your old Cell Phone) and enter your Voicemail Pin Number and listen to your messages. Don't turn your old cell phone on.

I hope this helps those having trouble porting over their number to AT&T.
