I can't open Roxio Easy CD Creator Cds on my Macbook

I created some CD files using Roxio Easy Cd Creator version 6 on a pc. When I close the disks so that they can be read on any CD-Rom, I still can't open them on my mac. I get three separate files, on and .exe file, the other a .zl file and third is an .inf file.

These CDs have photos and files on them.

I tried to open them with Terminal and System Profiler and I couldn't. I also mistakenly set defaults for opening the files when I was searching for a way to open then and now I can't change the defaults.

Is there anything I can do to open them on my Macbook?

Thanks.

If you can see files, then you're obviously able to read the disk. The problem appears to be that your files are stored some kind of Windows file format. An exe file is either a Windows executable or a self-extracting zip file. I wasn't able to find anything on a zi file; perhaps you meant 'zip'? If you really have a 'zi' file, this might have been created by the SOBIG virus, as it had a bug that improperly named zip files with a 'zi' extension. An inf file is usually either an autorun.inf file, which is a Windows-only file which causes an application to launch when a CD is inserted, or else a configuration file for a Windows installer.

Thanks. Is there anything I can do to convert or open
the files?

I looked up the .zl file extension and found that it
was a unknown or unassigned file extension (according
to file-extensions. org).

I can open the files on my pc.

If your exe is a self-extracting zip file, then you can use File Juicer to try and get the files out of it. StuffIt might be able to open them as well.

Next time, don't do whatever you did to put all your pictures into that exe.

Rather than using CDs I suggest you purchase an inexpensive, faster and resuable USB jump drive such as this one <http://www.microcenter.com/single product_results.phtml?productid=0237397>. They're Mac and Windows compatible and a 1GB drive can hold more than a CD.

Compared to CDs jump drives have virtually no down side to them other than an insignificant up-front cost.

Hope this helps!
