Why does my macbook get overheated when I stream video in Safari? Safari uses 112% of all cpu capacity, how can that be possible? When i use my crappy Dell laptop runing XP i dont have any problems at all. No overheating, no noice. Whats wrong with my macbook?

The graphic chipset inside is not that superb and use the shared memory and somehow also "use" and load the processor, and make the processor create heat, and the fan start kicking to prevent the overheating.

I use to get fan kickin' a lot when streaming video from internet or rendering video file in my macbook.

do reset smc to refresh your hardware behaviour might calm the fan down a bit, (I doubt that myself).

you can also use third party software to control fan speed, but I don't recommend that considering your macbook still new and might void the warranty if the setting create overheat and broke your macbook.

Try to consult apple store or compare your unit with their demo unit. if your sweden apple have same policy of 14 days return policy, you can return it and upgrade to macbookpro with better graphic chipsets.

Also upgrade your memory might give your graphic chipsets more memory to allocate so will make less processor load too.

Good Luck.

Contact Apple if you think something is wrong with your MacBook. That is what the warranty is for. We are all users and have no control over anything , we just give advice and hope the person we give it to doesn't get snotty.

One thing that would help you would be more RAM. I run 2 GB of RAM and have no problems. My cpu temp gets up to around 80º C and 6000 RPM when I watch streaming video. From other threads I have participated in this is about normal.

Try not to be so hostile to the other members and you might find you get more help. I almost didn't post as I am pretty you will come back and yell at me and tell me about your Dell computer but I am taking that chance to try and help.

I quit using Safari all together and now just use FireFox. My fan doesn't come on nearly as much. One thing that helped me alot was disabling ALL but one of my widgets. Apparently they are running in the background drinking up power. I really noticed a difference after that. Then I got a replacement battery from the Apple Store free because of battery performance problems...only 8 months old and going dead at 20% without warning among other problems! That seemed to help too. If I were you, I'd take it to an Apple store and have someone at the Genius Bar check it out.

Yes, the fan noise problems with the MacBook are disappointing for the price! But once adjusted, MAC is great!
