I'm editing a video for a client and she gave me some file footage to use on a dvd. It's not formatted to play as a dvd and when I open it up, I can't find the video files. The icon on my desktop says that there is 2GB on the disc so I know something is there. One small file says it is a vdu dv. I assume this video was recorded on a Sony DVU. How do I get that into FCP if I do not have a camera or deck that plays those disks? Quicktime says it will play DVU files but I cannot find them on the disc. Any ideas?
Tried all of that. What vexes me is that the disc icon on my desktop says there is 2GB on the disc but I cannot find any files larger than a few mbs on the disc when I open it. Thanks.
after you find out where the files are hidden, use MPEGStreamclip (free) to open the file and export it to a usable format (QT, for example).
even if you end up not needing it for this, i'd download it anyway - its super handy for converting ripped VOB files and other things you'll run into. i use it at least once a week.
