Do I REALLY need a screen protector?

I bought a case to protect the back and sides of my iPhone, and to make it firmer to hold (the thing is slippery!!)

However, after watching the PCWorld stress test video (couldn't scratch the screen with keys, no matter how hard they tried, dropped it on concrete, no screen damage), I'm doubting whether I need a screen protector. I love the feel of the glass, and I don't wait to change it if I don't have to!

What are your thoughts everyone?

in all honesty, a screen protector will probably make navigation worse off. this is not a pressure senstive plastic film like PDA's use but rather a glass screen that registers touches from the static of our fingertips. unless some 3rd party manufacturer comes out with a film that will not block static transfer, it will probably make things worse. i personally recommend a case with a cover that you can flip back.

I'm using the Power Support Crystal Film Set, which was recommended by the folks at Apple. They assured me, and I've found, that it makes no difference to the sensitivity of the phone screen.

I know what the pics showed of the screen taking a real beating, but I tend to scratch Palm screens and I'm still a little paranoid about scratching this one.

I say yes. I was cleaning my screen 100 times a day and had to fight the urge to do it with my t-shirt. My boss announced to the whole it floor that I had the phone. Everyone had their mitts on my new toy. I was afraid of scratching the glass up if a cloth was too abrasive kind of like what happens to reading glasses.

Why risk damaging your screen? The screen protector at the mac store is awesome it is made of thick plastic and seemingly easier to clean. The Mac genius said they tested scraping their keys into the protector and it passed the test. I split the cost with a co-worker and we both bought one. I mean really 8 bucks a pop to protect a $650 phone was an easy choice for us.

One other point. I use the folio case in edition to the screen protector. The reason for this is the fact that I have hammered my work black berry anywhere it is exposed. keys scrath the face when the plastic holster is off. The back of it is all scarred up from running into things at work when it is on the belt clip. In my book any open face product is an invite to ram your ipod into a door jam or cart etc. If you do any physical work ( I am a pc tech so I don't to a whole lot) you may suprise yourself with how easy it is to scuff a screen up.
