frontrow volume control using airtunes

Hi all,
I discovered a little annoying thing and I am wondering if anyone knows a solution. I have the following setup. Imac intel core duo and airport express. I use iTunes for all my music and have it streaming to my stereo using airtunes.
Using my remote control with my iMac intel core duo, I can adjust the volume of itunes and the volume of the signal going to my stereo. However, if I use frontrow I can only adjust the volume of the iMac itself. The streamed music stays at the same volume and I can only adjust it by using my stereo's volume.
Is this just a little bug, or can I change some setting somewhere?
thanks.
Paul

I have a similar setup and trying to do a similar thing using a RF==>IR universal remote to control track selection (next, previous) and volume. I have 3 stereos throughout my house with their own AirPort Expresses...

I guess I missed something, but am I correct that you can control the output volume of iTunes using the Apple remote? I guess I've only tried this when Front Row is launched, which, as you note, doesnt work.

So, if iTunes is running, I can use the remote to control the volume to the audio-out jack (on a MacMini)? That would be way cool. I would test it out, but I'm at work...)

I have the same problem. When not using the remote control, Mac volume control controls the computer speaker volume whereas iTunes volume control controls the volume of the remote speakers (which is good). However, when using the remote control with front row, the remote controls the Mac's own speakers, and the airtunes speaker volume stays same no matter what I do. This is highly annoying and defeats the purpose of having the front row remote. A solution will be highly appreciated.

It seems like the FrontRow remote only controls the general sound volume output and has no effect on the iTunes volume slider. When using AirTunes, it only responds to the iTunes volumes slider.

I see 2 pieces of simple software wiring needed from Apple (once they get done pumping out the mainly useless updates to iTunes to support all their new iPod hardware).

1) Sound Preferences needs to be able to add AirTunes as a "device for Sound Output"

2) iTunes Preferences needs to be enabled to control volume slider from FrontRow.

I have finally have solved this by buying Mira, the remote control mapping software. Shame we have to buy additional software to overcome Apple's oversight, but it's worth $16 to sort out this utterly unacceptable flaw in Apple's software. You can programme the Remote to work other apps to so you do at least get extras for your cash. Remember to restart though after changing any options in preference when you have bought the full version – otherwise it won't work properly. Hope this helps. Apple – you still need to sort this properly so people don't have to resort to third party apps. Are you listening? It's a simple patch, that's all.

Came here hoping to resolve the pitiful volume level I get from airtunes with airport express - having also been using the dv out and audio to connect to my stereo and TV.

Pretty much a deal breaker for me to use the express for audio.

I will keep on plugging in extremely long cable into my macbook on my desk!

Apple resolve this - plenty of us would like to use our computer rather than Apple TV -
and be able to stream right off the free video on the internet and songs on our computer using Front Row.

while your at it put back the music with the slideshow for my photos.

when i use front row the remote speakers hooked to my stereo via airport express stop working all together. the computer speakers stay on but the airport stops. is this a pref i need to set? Apple didn't really take this away did they? More money for less stuff? If so they should give a list of things they took away along with the new features.
