Question

WiFi at Caribou Coffee ends up with lost connection -1005

I just tried to use iPhone at local CC adn the message was Safari couldn't open the page = "lost network connection" NSURLErrorDomain:-1005"

the phone was trying to log on at CC but then it came up with the url =

http://cariboulogin.wanderingwifi.com:80/caribou/Login

that doesn't happen with my Mac Book Pro

any ideas?

G5 PowerMac, intel MBPro & Aperture, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

the coffee house has password lock on the wifi or something? Just curious about this too. Haven't been to a coffee house or place like that yet.

Was this after getting their "Agree" screen and clicking it or did you not even get that far? (I've never used the free WiFi there, so a description of the process might help as well.

I never got that far = I thought it would log on [CC doesn't have a login page or password when I use my laptop] but it ended up going to the link I indicated and then the error message

Well I was just there again = laptop got on fine [did have to sign up for login but no problem doing that] but couldn't access the wifi at Caribou with the iPHone....

In Settings > Safari, try changing the Cookies setting to "always." Also try turning off the pop-up blocker.

Wish I lived close enough to a Caribou to try it myself! But, alas, none in NYC.

Wifi login at Caribou is managed by Wandering Wifi. At present, the login is not set to handle iPhones. The stores have a tech support number to call, and tech support can connect you if you give them your MAC address. Tech support can walk you through it. They are working on an easier solution.
