yahoo toolbar/ synching bookmarks

i've been a longtime firefox user simply beacuse they have a yahoo toolbar with bookmarks button that I can use across computers/across platforms to access my bookmarks. Why on earth is a yahoo toolbar not available for safari? Or even how do I sync my bookmarks that I can access from different computers? I can log into yahoo bookmarks obviously but it's cumbersome having to keep a separate tab open and flip back and forth rather than a pull down menu. Is the only way to sync bookmarks on safari to use on other computers is if I have a .mac account? It's silly I would have to pay $100 a year for .mac for bookmarks when every other company (google, yahoo, de.li.ci.ous) provides synced bookmarks for free

Hi

Welcome To Apple Discussions

Yahoo Toolbar is not designed for Safari. Doubt that it will happen. Safari's WebKit framework affects a number of applications including Quicktime, iTunes, Address Book, Mail etc. Adding a toolbar means changing the WebKit; something Apple doesn't encourage, nor seems to interest Yahoo. You may want to contact Yahoo asking them about future plans for the toolbar.

At the moment .Mac is the only way to synch bookmarks between machines. If you would like to see something different, consider sending feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple selection. While Apple doesn't respond to these queries/comments, nonetheless I think it's a good idea to keep the software engineers apprised of customer needs etc.
