safari keeps going back to home

This happens to me too, but not right away.

In the browser, it happens randomly and usually after about a few minutes of browsing, as if I accidentally and suddenly touched the home button.

It always happens when I touch and address in my contacts list, which triggers the browser and google maps. While I am there if I choose the directions option and enter a "from" it kicks back to home.

Same here. It almost always happens when there are text fields I want to write in on the page (like an Evite response). Sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. Interestingly, it also quits as soon as I load the Apple support page.

Power down the phone (holding the button at the top right for a few seconds and swipe the confirm to shut it down). Then restart. This fixed the problem for me, which was occurring in Safari, Maps and YouTube. I got this answer from many other discussions that were taking place on the board here.

It's definitely a bug Apple will need to fix, but once I powered down and restarted yesterday, I haven't had the problem again. Hope this helps.

FWIW, that's a crash of safari usually when safari goes to the home screen. It's happend to me on a few complex sites I was testing it out at. some it would consistantly crash the iPhone and others were inconsistant.

there is also a hard reset (no data loss) where you hold power button and home button for about 8 seconds.

Ditto. Restart it.

That happens to me too. The restart/hard reset seems to work for a while, then again the problem persist.

Yes, just after I posted I remembered the good old days of rebooting, and I did a power-down. That was about 10 days ago. OI haven't had a problem with this ever since.
