iPod Hi Fi not playing iPod

My Hi Fi was working fine until the other day I put my iPod in the top of it and it wasn't playing it. The iPod itself was playing but no sound was coming through the speakers. I unplugged it, waited for a few seconds, and replugged it. The green light blinked like it always does when you plug it in. I go to play my iPod and, even though the iPod itself plays, no sound is coming from the speakers. I cranked up the volume...nothing. When I try to use the remote to change songs or use the volume buttons on the hi fi, the orange light blinks. I can still play my iPod in my car, so I'm thinking there's something wrong with the connection between the iPod and the hi-fi. Is there a simple way to fix this, do I need a replacement part, or do I need a new hi-fi? I've had the hi-fi for just about 7 months.

First, unplug your HiFi from power for about 5 minutes and then plug it back in and try again. If that doesn't work:

Put the iPod back in the HiFi dock and Reset the iPod (hold down the menu and center buttons for 6 seconds) and see if it fixes your problem.

If it doesn't, try connecting something to the Aux connector on the HiFi and see if you can hear it. If you can, then the dock connector may be damaged on the HiFi and you need to take/send it in for service.

I have had the same problem. It was all working fine and then there was no sound and the remote control wouldn't operate the nano although it charges. I borrowed another iPod nano from a friend and hers worked, then I removed the housing and put my iPod straight onto the connector and it worked fine. Could it be that there is a connection that has been shunted upwards into the machine? Let me know if you find a solution.
