Remove rust and white deposits

Someone just gave me an old Power Mac G5 that has a lot of rust and some white deposits/corrosion. What is the best product to clean it up with?

Hello! Probably soap & water but electrical cleaner should also work. Just be sure that it's DRY before attempting to use it. Tom

Before you try anything else on it, see what a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will do for it.

Dampen just one end of the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and squeeze all excess water out so that it remains barely damp. This little gizmo really does work like magic on many surfaces. See what it will do for the Power Mac.

Hi amagab-

No matter what else I would open it up to make sure that cooling system (if present) has not leaked all over everything before powering it up.
