I use my Ipod shuffle primarily while at work in the lab. I usually leave my Ipod at work unless I want to change my playlist. Our IT department recently removed Itunes from our computers.

Previously, I would just plug in my Ipod, Itunes would load automatically, I would shut down Itunes and let my Ipod charge.

Now without Itunes, my Ipod just blinks orange. Is my Ipod still charging even though I don't get a solid orange light? Is there any way of knowing when my Ipod is fully charged?

Thanks, Chris

It's charging when steady or blinking orange is displayed. Depending on the version of the firmware, UNmounting it using "safely remove hardware" in the system tray MAY accurately show state of charge (1.0.2) or not (1.0.3)... Essentially, IF you've charged it for 5+ hours, you're good to go... DO NOT, however keep the shuffle connected while your computer sleeps.

An alternate charging method is to get an Apple iPod USB Power Adapter which plugs into an AC socket and removes the computer from the charging equation.
