Managed Preferences not Applying

I have 10 G4 eMacs on a network that are managed centrally from an XServe. There are some 15 Apple notebooks managed in the same way, and each of those apply managed preferences perfectly.

My problem is that I have taken delivery of some really nice Intel iMacs that won't apply managed preferences at all!

Is there some weird esoteric way of getting Intel Macs to have preferences applied, or am I doomed to a year of fretting over users getting too much access to things they shouldn't?

Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm getting a very very similar problem.

Just taken over from our mac guy at the college where I work, i'm up on pretty much everything else except for managed prefs - i made changes to the login window which took effect after running the above bash command, but none of the changes I make to the student's group take effect, at all!

is there a similar command that will force the user group's managed prefs to refresh?

i'm getting a bit scared now as students will need to use the machines in a week or so and I need a way to manage their docks and lock their access down tight!

hope someone out there can help me...

The above command should refresh all preferences rather than just the computer account ones.

How many groups is your user a member of and when you logon does it have a folder created inside the /Library/Manged\ Preferences directory with the username?

One thing I've done previously is to remove the user from all groups, logon to the machine, reboot, add the user back into the group and then try logging on again.

Just a thought...
