set up with old pc

I am purchasing a Mac after many years in the pc world. I was told that I should buy virus software (specifically Norton) since I will be transferring files from my pc onto the Mac. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Thanks in advance.

imac Mac OS X (10.4.6) currently using windows xp

There are no Mac OS X viruses; if you want to detect and remove Windows viruses on a Mac, use a software package such as this one.
