why does my battery icon sometimes change from green to white in certain applications? Right now it is completely charged, unplugged, and showing a white battery. When I go into some applications (SMS, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Clocks, Setting, Phone, Mail, Safari, iPod), it turns green, but for others (Photos, Stocks, Weather, Calculator, Notes, or the home screen) it stays white. Very stupid, I know! Thanks! Sarah

I think the Apple interior decorators could not agree on a single color scheme for the battery - green or white is the same, just look at the battery icon itself and see if its full or shows black (empty) space.
Well the logical reason is if you have the white battery against the white background you wont see the battery.
The different colors are probably chosen as the best suitable for the user to see the icon.
Hope that helps! 🙂

Also, it is completely "normal" because if you look at the box your iPhone came in, the battery and AT& T signals are white, so even though it might not make sense 🙂 there is nothing wrong with your phone.
Its White on the the black background, and green on the white background.
You are right about the background colors, is there any logical reason for this? Just didn't know if it meant something else.. Thanks a lot!
Thanks! Guess I was just reading too much into it!
Logical? What don't they think we can distinguish green against a black background? Consistency is better, especially when there isn't any difficulty with green blending into a black background.
some ppl are color blind, and don't visually differentiate between green/black as well as they do black/white, mister eagle eye vision.
stupid question...battery charging icon.. green vs. white???
