Ipod is ruining my headphones

At first i thought that i had worn out my headphones because the right side of my headphones was no longer working but now I just bought a brand new pair of sony headphones that cost me 50 dollars and they are also having no sound come out of the right side. I tried a different pair of headphones on the ipod and they work just fine on it but how can my new ones just stop working completely like that? I tried them on my computer headphone jack and they don't work there either. Is this an ipod problem or just a coincidence of headphone problems? If i press the right side of the heaphones they work for a little bit.

thanks i was mostly paranoid becuase I'd seen several forums talking about headphone problems on 5th generation ipods, they said that the right side of their headphones had just stopped working and that the same would happen with any other pair they would buy. But I'll return and exchange them tomorrow hopefully that will be the end of my problem, by any chance do you know if the shure headphones are worth the $99? I figure if I'm gonna keep having these types of problems i should just get better headphones. also if this keeps happening does apple repair this type of problem?

What id do, to make sure, because even though its more likley the headys, you should get a very cheap pair, do you have poundland in america (spose it would be dollar land?)) if you do get a realy cheap pair, if they are ok and dont break, then get a good pair

If it is the ipod, and its fairly new, send it back to apple

ok sooooo i just sent my THIRD ipod away because of this problem. but its not my headphones. my headphones continue to work fine in everything. and i just actually bought a new pair of the same headphones a couple weeks ago. i have the silver sony ones, not exactly cheap. the first two ipods were free of charge but now its been more than 6 months so apple is making me pay shipping which is like $40! im super ****** but relieved to hear im not the only one having this problem. i was planning to go to the Apple store and ask them how i can prevent this from happening in the future. so weird that its always the right ear.
