When I installed 7.3 the other day, every time I go into ITunes the application freezes up. I see all my songs in the grid, but I cannot click on anything nor navigate within the application. My only choice is to go to Task Manager and kill the application.

I saw that there was a 7.3.1 update out today, and I was excited thinking that this would resolve the problem. It didn't. I installed 7.3.1, rebooted, launched Itunes and had the exact same problem.

This was working just fine until 7.3, I'm looking for a resolution that will allow me to fix the application without having to uninstall, reinstall and then reselect all the songs I want selected for my ipod sync.

Here's my most recent report for the Vista problem log:

Description
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

You don't describe what else you had tried in the course of your troubleshooting. Have you worked through the following document?

iTunes for Windows Vista: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues

Sorry to hear you have similar problem.
Since updating my Itunes it closes after failing to update Library & sends error report to Microsoft.
Since the patch has failed to fix the problems I too am facing uninstalling Itunes with no guarrantee I can reinstall or if I can get library back to how it was.

Not sure what kind of troubleshooting I need to do, but this should tell you something: Prior to 7.3 I had no problems. As soon as I install 7.3, freezes everytime. It's an obvious bug that many have reported, why wasn't it included in 7.3.1?

I have also the same freeze problem with 7.3.1.

I solved by uninstaling this version, and reinstalling Itunes 7.2. It works fine, as before.

I'm wainting for another 7.3 release to upgrade to this version...

... So you haven't tried working through the suggestions from the following document?

I didn't work through your checklist because to me it's obviously an application issue. But I did just work through the list, created a new account, checked for 3rd party apps, viruses, etc...all of it.

Exact same issue. Nothing has changed.

My checklist? It's a user to user troubleshooting forum. See:

    http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa

... That's why I've been trying to help you with your troubleshooting, because that's what one does in a user to user troubleshooting forum ...

Still, given that you're absolutely convinced that there's nothing your fellow users can do to help you, I'll stop working through other possibilities, and leave you in peace. Otherwise, I'll just end up irritating you.

Im still having this problem too. . . tried the items listed in the other forum topics (recreate libarary, profile, etc -- though i still maintain that wiping a full library with saved settings and play counts isnt an acceptable result)

No disrepect to the guy earlier in the topic who wants to help. . . but at the end of the day -- here's what im left with. . .

    This WORKED on 7.2
This DOES NOT WORK on 7.3 or 7.3.1

That right there is the smoking gun. . . and apple needs to step up and fix their application in such a way that doesnt require me to lose all my music settings again or otherwise wipe my windows profile.

My point exactly!! Throwing out a generic "Do it yourself" troubleshooting guide because you don't know the answer is not my idea of tech support. It's apparent that Apple doesn't know the answer and really doesn't care to resolve it....the responses by B Noir prove just that, he's just here to get post totals up and not really to help.

The provided Bucket ID is not a valid in Windows Error Reporting.

The steps the retrieve the Bucket ID are as follows:
    1. Open the Problem Reports and Solutions Control Panel.
    2. Click Change Settings.
    3. Click Advanced Settings.
    4. If iTunes is in the Block List at the bottom, select iTunes and click Remove.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Click OK again.
    7. Open iTunes and recreate the crash.
    8. Reopen the Problem Reports and Solutions Control Panel.
    9. Look for iTunes in the list of problems that have been seen on your system.
    10. Click View problem history.
    11. Right-click the top iTunes item and choose View problem details.
In the Detailed Report information, look for the Bucket ID at the bottom of the page.

That is the Bucket ID I need.

All versions can be found here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_itunes/

Your library should stay intact during the uninstall, mine did. 7.3 had way too many issues for me, had to dial back to 7.2.
