iPhone not recognizing my Wi-Fi password

I've had my iPhone for several weeks now, and suddenly it won't access my home Wi Fi network. It asks me to enter my password, which I do, and then it tells me I have the incorrect password. I have verified my password in the Airport Setup Assistant, as well as in my keychain, but my iPhone is quite insistent that I have not entered it correctly. I'm quite sure that after several attempts of being very careful and watching every character as it is accepted in the keypad that I am entering it correctly.

Any suggestions?

Hey Dede Stanley,

The tips in this article may help resolve the password issue.

Make sure you are selecting the correct security type on the iPhone.
Also, what security type are you using on the network?

I have two suggestions.

1. Try entering your password as "ascii". There is an option for that.

2. Unless your living in an apt complex, just turn off the WEP. My iPhone worked great with WEP until a few days ago then just stopped. I live in the burbs with no neighbors close so I turned WEP off and havent had a problem since. Wifi only travels a short distance.

Thank you Jason. Because it is my own Wi-Fi network, it doesn't give me an option to renew the lease. I am using WEP, which previously had not been a problem.

Thank you, as well, rkkeller. I was able to get it to accept my password when I used the ascii format. I'm hesitant to disconnect my WEP password, as while I do live in a neighborhood, I can easily access my neighbor's unprotected wi-fi networks. My Mac expert suggested that I keep it on the password.

Thank you both for your help!

Dede
