The Apple iPhone incorporates a deeply recessed headphone jack that makes it incompatible with most headphones on the market, including Bose(R) headphones. Bose will soon introduce an adapter that will allow our headphones to be used with the iPhone. We do not have a time frame for when this will be available however.
I did the same thing but used my dremel and then buffed the rough plastic down. Came out pretty nice and can't tell the difference between the old and the new. Fits perfectly and the square end of the bose plug can rotate freely with no loss of sound. I figured if I did any damage to the plug, I'd head to radio shack for a new plug and some solder to make a new end.
I had a pair of Sony headphones with a 90 degree bend at the jack that I can't use at all, even with the rubber dremeled away. The plug only fits with the bend pointing the outgoing wire toward the back of the iphone. Any rotation causes the plug to lift out.
Just trying to avoid buying an extension. I bought the iphone to carry less around - not more.
Yeah...I'm with everyone else in the later part of this conversation. I don't see how you could screw up the functionality of your $100+ headphones unless you have parkensons or you twitch...A LOT
The Apple TTY Adapter is for hearing impared equipment. The female end of hte TTY Adapter will not receive the conventionaly 3.5 mm mini jack. The Apple TTY Adapter will not work with the Bose.
The only problem with the BOSE headphone is you cant answer it with out removing the phone from its holster. Theres no MIC or button to answer or end the call.
I bought the Shure headphone adapter and it is great it has a mic and play pause button at the Apple store and you don't destroy the headphones. I use my shure headphones with it and it works perfectly. The only thing is its $40.00 which is a lot for an adapter but its a really long cord and worth the money. I am going to stop rambling on about this so I don't have everyone bored out of their minds 😉
