Green Glow?

What is this green glow I keep reading about with the battery? My battery on the main screen fills with green as it charges and the icon in the corner changes when its full. Can someone fill me in the the glow part?

Yeah, Apple has announced that really is an issue, and they are going to release a fix for it soon. Actually, my iPhone is affected by it (first Apple product to actually have a bug for me).

So you shouldn't worry about it, because even if the glow doesn't show up, as long as the little battery on the top-right (little white one) has the plug in it and appears fully charged, your iPhone is fully charged.

I hope this helps!

Actually PTBoater, there's a bit more to this sadly-obsessive "green glow" yarn... The 411 is, from the "glow initiated crowd", is that you only get the real glow when that last sliver on the right is gone, the whole battery is green and the "charged" plug icon appears in the center of the green battery. At that point, and only at that point, will the green battery glow more brightly than before. Kind of like the most holy of grails. I kid you not...

'-)

I tried to convince them that it was only a bug, that didn't actually affect the charge of the iPhone (only the indication on the screen), but they shooed me away for being a non-believer.

...And that's the whole 411 on the infamous green glowing battery.

All you kids to bed now...

;-))

Alas, I missed the glow. I put my iPhone to charge when I went to sleep. Somewhere during the middle of the night, it charged. When I woke up, the battery was full, the plug was there, and it had reset the Usage statistics, but they read 5 hours of usage (presumably the time since it achieved full charge during the middle of the night). No clue what that means.

Oh well. My battery seems just fine, so I wont worry about it. 🙂

I am honestly not sure what I do to get the glow, because it is hit or miss. But what worked last night:

Put into Airplane Mode and then completely turned it off to charge in the dock plugged into the wall.

In the morning, before even turning it on, I plugged the USB into my laptop, iPhone turned on to sync and then the battery picture popped up with the glow (NO sliver at the end), plug icon, and reset usage stats.

Now, I am sure it won't work tonight, but I will do the same thing and report back.

a bit more on that.

i actually forgot to try it last night. i charged the battery as usual: turned off wifi and blue tooth and plugged the phone to the wall. this morning, once again, i saw a sliver of "no green" and no glow.

when i checked out the thread this morning, i read again what mmulhern did. i plugged the phone back to the wall and turned airplane mode on. the phone showed the plug right away, and the glow was there.

in conclusion, a sliver with a plug means the same as green glow. (just not as flashy)

have a nice weekend all

The green glow is a myth as is easily repeatable. All they did was while the phone was full charged go into Settings > Brightness and turned the slider all the way to the right. If you look at the images the black background is less black (because of the backlighting) and the 'reflection' of the battery is easier to see, which is what some are referring to as the glow. If you turn the brightness slider back down to 50/50 you will once again see what some are calling a "lack of glow" which is really just the 'reflection' being darker and harder to see.

Hope this helps.
