PC2700 runs at PC2100 speed?

I have an iBook G4 1.33 Ghz, and I have some PC2700 DDR333 RAM that I would like to install. The Apple manuals i found online tell me that if my iBook is a late 2004 model it takes PC2100, and if it is an early 2005 model it will take PC2700.

I realize that I can use PC2700 in both, but that if my iBook is the older model, the RAM will run at PC2100 speeds. But how do I know when my iBook was made? I don't remember exactly when I bought it, and even then it could have been an older one that the store just had left over.

Thanks!

Hi hiddenmuse

You will be able to tell whether you have either the:
iBook G4 1.33GHZ (late 04) as that has 256MB on board RAM
iBook G4 1.33GHZ (Mid 05) as that has 512MB on board RAM

by looking at About this Mac and More Info, and looking at how much on-board RAM is listed. It will be one or the other.

I think the PC2700 will run in the earlier model anyway, because it is faster, whereas if it was the opposite situation, that wouldn't work.

Have you seen this document?
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302333

In it it says of the earlier model, 'PC2700 compatible' suggests to me it would be OK.
