Itunes not recognizing Ipod/Error 1053

So I got a new 80 GB Ipod a few days ago and everything was working fine until it wouldn't show up in itunes when it was connected. So I tried everything suggested in the support article about this...it still shows up in My Computer. But when I tried stopping the Ipod Service it says it can't stop and comes up with the error 1053. I'm going crazy because I'm going away this weekend on a long trip and will need my IPOD for it...it'd be nice to have all my new music on it. Thanks for any help!

Are you using article 93716 (iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes)? Assuming you're using that article are you following the steps to restart the iPod Service?

If so you can tell the iPod Service to stop. Do the following:

1) hit ctrl altdel on your keyboard (opens up Task Manager)
2) Click on the Processes Tab
3) Locate iPod Service and highlight it
4) Hit end process and say yes to warning message

That will force the iPod Service to stop running.
