Quicktime runtime errors, prior solutions not fixing this instance of error
I was wondering if anyone can lend a hand with an issue that I'm trying to support on a coworker's computer. He's getting the following error on startup of iTunes:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!
Program c:\Program Files\Quicktime\QuictimePlayer.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
This occurred right after 7.3 install (upgrading from 7.2). He's tried the solution of moving/changing the name of software updater, as well as removing and reinstalling QuickTime standalone; he's pulled iTunes and QT off of his main drive (and used the windows install cleanup tool, then installed the latest version of VB script engine - as suggested by a poster on another forum) and tried installing on an external drive, and the issue still persists. He's done variations of reinstalls of QT or iTunes with virus, spyware, and adaware turned off, and he's tried running it in a virtual shell, still no progress.
Is there a file that we're missing that we need to remove?
Anyone have any ideas? I'm a mac support tech, so I'm not ask educated on the internals of the Windows version of iTunes, so there may be something super-simple that I'm missing.
Any ideas or help are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
