Safari Browser does not play well with vbulletin forums (save login?)!

The cruisecritic board ( http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=585458) documents the failure in both the Mac and PC versions of Safari.
I think the PHP source code for the vbulletin code is:
<!-- login form -->
<form action="login.php?do=login" method="post" onsubmit="md5hash(vb loginpassword, vb loginmd5password, vb login_md5passwordutf, 0)">
<script type="text/javascript" src="clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js?v=364"></script>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" border="0">
<tr>
<td class="smallfont"><label for="navbar_username">User Name</label></td>
<td align="right"><input type="text" class="bginput" style="font-size: 11px" name="vb loginusername" id="navbar_username" size="10" accesskey="u" tabindex="101" value="User Name" onfocus="if (this.value == 'User Name') this.value = '';" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="smallfont"><label for="navbar_password">Password</label></td>
<td align="right"><input type="password" class="bginput" style="font-size: 11px" name="vb loginpassword" id="navbar_password" size="10" tabindex="102" /></td>
