Mail server error when sending group emails

I keep getting an error message in Mail when I try to send a group emial. There is only about 15 people in the group all with valid email addresses. The message is this:

"Cannot send message using server smtp.comcast.net. Server response was [TEMPFAIL] destination not valid within DNS."

I can send the email when I limit the group to about 5 people but this is unacceptable. Comcast claims there are no hold ups on their end. Need HELP.

Anyone, anyone?

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.

Carefully examine the addresses in your group, especially looking for a comma that can be problematic. Commas should only be in a list of addresses to separate one address from another. Thus, if you have Smith, John<jsmith@comcast.net>, then Smith will be treated as separate address, but fail, and the message will not be sent.

More info, please.

Thank you for the welcome and quick reply. I looked at the TO: field with all my contacts in the group and couldn't find any commas within the names. However, only the peoples' names appear in the field and their addresses are not shown. For example the names appear like this: (Smith John) (Jones Mike) etc... Did I set up my group incorrectly? As I stated earlier, Mail will send the message if I limit the number to about 5 people. I've checked the preferences pane and things seem normal there. Any other suggestions.

If you open your address book, select the group that you want to send emails, and under the EDIT menu select "EDIT DISTRIBUTION LIST..." do the names appear correctly? That is where mail grabs the distribution list. Here you can verify that all the addresses look correct. Make sure you have a bold, legal address for each entry in your group.

Hope this might shed some light on what mail is seeing and sending. An address not included in the 5 that work may have some corruption. One common corruption is having characters like < and > inside the address which confuses a lot of email programs.
