How To Download iPhone Camera Photos Not Using iPhoto

I'm syncing to a folder on my desktop. Works fine getting photos from the computer to iPhone, but cannot figure out how to get photos taken by the iPhone camera to the computer. My only options seem to be to attach a lo-rez to emails, wallpaper or contacts.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

You will want to go into Applications on the Mac HD, Go into Image capture.
Click on image Capture next to Blue apple go into preferences and you will see a camera section. There will be a drop down menu that will let you select something different to move the photos to.

There is no Image Capture in Applications. There IS an Image Capture Folder in the Library with a Devices folder and a Twain Data Sources folder, but no way to do anything with them.
