iTunes on iPhone - How to Delete Songs

I bought the 4G iPhone thinking I'd never fill 4Gs. Then I downloaded my library - 700 songs. Now I have almost no room left. How can I delete songs from my iPhone without harming the integrity of my iTunes? Create a new playlist and only download that instead of library? In doing that will the auto-sync do that if I select the specific play list. Thanks.

instead of sncing to your main itunes library just set up a new playlist in itunes, drag all the music you want onto your iphone into that playlist and then just sync your phone only to that specific itunes playlist.

when you want to add or remove songs just do it from the playlist that you set up and the iphone will sync up with it everytime you plug it in.
