When I try to sync ical to my iphone it gives me an error message that it could not sync to my iphone b/c the iphone disconnected. Of course, it is not disconnected. I use Palm Desktop but converted it to a Vcal format before I tried the sync. I have the most recent version of itunes. Any ideas?
A colleague's iPhone is also exhibiting this behavior, with the same disconnect message. We tried a reset/restore on her iPhone, but that didn't work. Any input or suggestions would be welcome....
A followup to my previous post - after a number of resets and restarts, both of the Powerbook and the iPhone, and a number of changes in iCal (turning off never-ending recurring events, for example), the only way that the iPhone was able to successfully sync with iCal was to trash iCal, install a fresh copy of the program, and reload the data from a backup. After that, the two synced fine...
The reason for the itunes throwing an error of the iphone being disconnected when trying to sync ical, is that the iphone does not like one or more of your events.
One way to find out which one it is:
1. instead of syncing all your calendars at once, try syncing one calendar at a time.
2. when you come across the offending calendar, try setting the feature to not sync anything older than 7 days.
4. If it still does not work, create a new calendar in ical, call it iphone or something
5. sync the iphone to that blank calendar replacing all calendar data
6. create a test event on the iphone and a test event in ical in the test calendar and sync the iphone. This makes sure that ical and the iphone are syncing both ways
7. start moving a few of your events from the offending calendar to the test calendar and sync the iphone
8. keep repeating step 7 until you get the error message that the iphone was not connected.
This way you can narrow down the event or event's that are causing the iphone to disconnect.
