Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000

Anyone know if this will work with ichat AV?

MacPro 2.6, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

It seems to me that Logitech cameras are the best in terms of finding usable drivers. macam seems to support them very well and they don't make bad cameras. I use a Logitech Communicate STX with macam and iChatUSBCam and it works pretty well. It does have some video issue on occasion when it's situated strangely, but all in all, it's great, and it only costs around $35 to $40 (USD).

I just tried iChat w/ macamm driver and a paid version of usbcam and it doesn't work well. Recognizes the device and you can see a pic but it looks like 16 colors or worse. If you change the contrast you can get it to look somewhat normal but it looks like a frequency problem. Flashes like it's at 50hz on a 60hz system or something.

I also have a real cheapo i bought on newegg for 9.95 Sunplus SPCA 561a that DOES work. optics are not great but pic is not deformed like with the lifecam vx 1000
