Best Case?

What's the best case for:

Dropping it in the pocket?

Holstering it?

Running with it?

I've already got the Belkin for running, but I just got my iPhone today and haven't used it. I can't decided if I'm going to holster it or put it in the pocket. What do you all think is the best case for each purpose?

iMac Dual Core; MacBook; soon to have iPhone, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Actually, no there haven't been any scratches anywhere on my iPhone using the iSee... The belkin one was the one I read that has this problem. I do sometimes see stuff inside the case so I will sometimes pop the back cover off and blow the dust away...

I think it doesn't scratch with the iSee as easily as the phone is held a bit more secure than the belkin model... Either that or most of the artifacts appearing under my rear lid were all soft crumbs of food...

To be honest the iSee dust problem isn't very bad at all, and it is very easy to remove the back cover to clean it out...

I have the Griffin Elan Holster

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elanholster/

I've been pleased with its performance: Holds the device firmly, but allows easy removal/insertion, good level of protection, came with a free screen protection film.

The only thing I think could be improved is the "slide on" belt clip. I much prefer those plastic spring loaded clips.

The clip hasn't let me down, but I'd be worried if I had to run somewhere.

I tried the Griffin Elan holder first, but had two main issues with it: (1) with use the leather pouch seemed to loosen up to the point that it became a little too easy to slide out (and with no top flap, that became even more of a concern); and (2) the removeable belt clip is only held in place by two small metal prongs that have to be placed just so in the opening on the case or they will (and, in my case, did) become undone -- not cool at all.

Of the two issues, no. 2 was the deal breaker --the clip actually came off the case twice, and we can't have that.....

Thanks for the feedback. The Belkin screwed up the bezel on mine. So I bought a Marware Sidewinder. It has a stronger secure belt clip, and holds the iPhone securely. Still the Marware is basically a secure holster, and does not provide full body protection.

I'll have to take a look at that iSee and PowerSupport products and see how snug it fits in there. It always felt loose in the Belkin case.

Re: the iSkin Revo case, MM07, I haven't been able to address that, since I just got it yesterday... However, I have read on other forums from users who have had some more time with the iSkin that they've been able to take the case off completely, multiple times (either to wash the case, or dust off lint) ... and the case fit just as snugly every time.

In my opinion, I believe that the iSkin will hold up very well, and will not stretch out like the horrible inCase, but one thing that supports my claim is that most of the rubber on the case is thick, as you see that it adds more shock protection around the corners. This added thickness makes the silicone less prone to stretch. The inCase is designed decently but there isn't that added "corner padding" you see on the Revo. I think that iSkin has done its homework.

and No, I did not order the cloth and lanyard. I betted on the UPS Standard shipping, and since I live right off the border between Canada/US in NY, the case came to me in just two days. But also, I don't think I'm ready to hang my iPhone from its dock connector with that lanyard.

just received the iSkin revo......i first got the incase silicon which was ok....the benefit of the revo is the way it covers not just around but over the ear piece and the button......in addition the privacy filter (which I haven't put on yet since I had the crystal film already on.....but i'm really waiting for the vaja that i want....have used vajacases for my treo and for my iPod....expensive but worth it.

I received the gray version of the zCover yesterday, and there is NO PROBLEM with the proximity sensor for this color either. Looks nice, won't slip, iPhone will be protected in a fall. The accessories that are available also work fine (the special case-on dock is not yet available). The ability to attach a lanyard to the back of the case is a bonus that provides extra protection for one-handed picture taking.

Dave, this guy must live in a sand pit.

I've had the iSkin Revo for 3 weeks of heavy use and it hasn't scratched or scuffed a thing.

I've tried the inCase--which definitely DOES scratch the chrome bezel. However, after not removing the iSkin for 3 weeks (which by the way is not recommended...you should remove and clean all cases regularly), I didn't have 1 scratch.

Concerned about the scuffs this guy talked about, I even looked at the home button area under my friend's shop light and it was as shiny and smooth as the day I bought it.

I'm not calling the guy a liar...but maybe he got a bad case?

Another review of case #6...I posted this on the revo thread as well but since all of my review are here, then I will add this one to the thread:

...I am also now using the iSkin Revo Nighthawk (and it is Black, just two shades of black due to the type of material used) It is a very snug and comfortable fit and has plugs that cover all of the orfices (for those that keep getting lint in the headphone hole and cable sync slot).

I have modified mine to accept a belt clip. I took the removable belt clip system off of the zCover and attached it to the iSkin with no trouble at all. I only had to use my leather punch to put two small holes in the back of the case to mount the belt clip assembly to it. If I remove the assembly then I have two vent holes, does not detract or mar the case in anyway. The assembly also doubles as a leg for watching videos in horizontal mode. The only negative by adding the belt clip assembly is that I do not have a place to store the clear cover which i use to protect the screen.

The case is a lot thinner then the zCover and the DLO Black case with headphone storage and a little more slick giving it the ability to slide in and out of pocket easier. However, the zCovers cable access plug is permenantly attached where as the iSkins is loose and will eventually get lost if not careful.

Testing it to work with the Case Mate holster has proven to be ineffective. The iSkin case is so much thinner that it falls right out of the holster, that is why I went with adapting the Belt Clip to it.

Have not tried the privacy film yet as I still have my case mate protection film on it and its holding up just fine.

Overall, the case gets an A- (would be an A if not for the little piece of unattached rubber plug, and an A+ with its own Belt Clip Assembly)

Good Luck!
