Fix my internet, apple!

After the latest update, I am unable to maintain a connection to the internet. I'm willing to open up the kernel myself and edit it to **** if someone will tell me what will fix it. I notice that apple is saying nothing about all of our problems with wireless networking.

I want my wireless back. I want it back now. And I want it running at full speed. I'm sick of lag, I'm sick of the apple store telling me it's my router. I'm sick of having 10 minutes of downtime every 2 minutes.

I paid over $1400 for this computer because it was supposed to work. I will NOT downgrade to the CD build of OSX. Give me a fix.

MacBook C2D, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Wifi that worked fine until the update

Hmmm, I figured when you were talking about fixing the Kernal yourself, that you would know what I was talking about with a short description!?

Pacifist is an app to extract things from install packages...

But there might be many other fixes for your problem... we just have very vague info on this end about the problem.

One thing I'd do very first thing is get Applejack...
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...

applejack AUTO

Then let it do all 5 of it's things.

At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

See my WiFi FAQ(x)

The update really didn't do anything. What happened is that many third party routers are not to spec, or your airport software is not up to date. The third party routers need their firmware updated to understand the latest standards. If they won't update them, one of the ones in my FAQ is more likely to be updated.

We're just other Users here, trying to help out until Apple fixes it. the Books do seem to have more than their share of problems, and the Updates don't seem to have made it any better.

You can use Pacifist to check out the latest Packages/Updates you installed to see exactly what was changed.

But, since you've precluded rolling the whole OS back to what worked, with an Archive & Install from CD/DVD, then it seems your only other option is to use Pacifist and try replacing some things, like...

System/Library/Extensions/AppleAirPort.kext

Not sure what else needs to be replaced, but as I mentioned before, there are many threads on this right in this forum.

BTW, many of those with problems have found fixes, but we still have not much idea/info about your problem(s).
