How do I fix bad static? Can you change channels?

love the headset! It fits great and the base is the bomb! But no matter where I use it I get horrible static. Is there a way to adjust the channel or something? Or do I just have a bad headset?

Does the amount of static change if you have the iPhone WiFi on or off?

Is there a WiFi access point nearby (less than 10 feet) when you noticed this?

They operate at the same frequency but would not normally interfere with each other. If its not caused by an external source like a WiFi access point or leaky microwave oven, then something in the headset radio is most likely bad.

I've tried 5 or 6 different BT headsets as well as the included Apple headsets and the Vibe Duo.

ALL of them have some background hiss or static, so I assume this is a fault of the phone or ATT service (I wish I had another model ATT phone to test and narrow it down). I've had 3 iPhones with the same problem, so it seems to be indicative of all iPhones. The noise gets worse when driving.

Noise reducing headsets work best (i.e., Plantronics 665). The Jawbone only reduces noise in one-direction (outbound to the person on the other end). Plantronics works in both directions.

I wish Apple would take a look at this issue. But I won't hold my breath, because an Apple "Genius" just basically looked at me like I had three heads when I told him about this.

I do have some dental work. Static is not a problem for me, but I do pick up a BBC broadcast once the iPhone is more than 2.5 feet from the headset.

😉

Not.

As with every bluetooth headset I've ever had (Plantronics 640 and Jabra 500 with Treo and iPhone) my Apple headset gets static prone once the phone is more than 2-3 feet from the headset.

I set my iPhone down and started to walk away from it today while on a call. THAT didn't last long. I went running back to grab the phone before my ear popped out from all the noise.

But, as long as they are only a foot or two apart they work fine. Not sure what the purpose of the 30 foot spec for BT is !!!
