Chicago Font Missing

Chicago Font Missing

From several different sources, I hear that the Chicago font is essential to proper operation. However, my wife and I don't find it on our three machines running 10.4.

What's the story?

Chicago is not a standard OS X font. You're thinking of OS 9 and earlier.

You heard wrongly. Chicago is an OS 9 font and not part of OS X. It should be in /System Folder/Fonts/. If you're running OS 9 or Classic on the iMac, it should be there; it won't exist on the MacBook Pro, which can't run OS 9/Classic.
