I have a MacPro with a wireless keyboard that has F1-F16 function keys. I cannot figure out how to activate them; I am trying to emulate the Pause/Break key on a PC, which is F16 on a Mac. System Preferences, Keyboards doesn't give an option to activate the function keys. Some instructions I've found for other keyboards say to hold down the function key (Fn) while pressing the desired function key, in my case F16. But there is no function key on this keyboard.
So, how do I activate the F16 function key to make it act as a PC Pause/Break key? Thanks!!
When you open the KB/M prefs are there not several buttons at the top? Labled "Keyboard", "Mouse", "Bluetooth" and "Keyboard Shortcuts"? If not, there is something wrong with your installation. If there is, "Keyboard shortcuts" is the one you want to click on.
I don't believe OS X has a use for the Pause/Break key. I was unable to map anything to the F14 thru F16 keys in Keyboard & Mouse preferences. If you are running Windows via BootCamp then Pause/Break should have been mapped to the F16 key.
Edit: What Program are you using that requires a Pause/Break key?
The "Fn" key is typically found on laptop keyboards. Look in Sys Prefs/Keyboard and Mouse and click on the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab. You
should have control from there.
