Tables in Pages continuing to next page

I have another mystery in the Tables I use (just simple calculations and data presentation) in Pages to solve.

Sometimes the table will not continue to the next page and sometimes it will. When it continues to the next pages, I can do simple calculations, sums, etc for the whole table. Which is great. But a lot of the time it won't start a new page to continue the table, and simply keeps adding rows off the end of the first page. Then I have to do it in pieces only one page long. Which doesn't work very well as you can imagine!

I can't tell what makes the difference though. I've tried tabbing, using the return, page down, down arrow, etc., etc. And I've studied the invisibles for a clue. And I can't get it to automatically carry over to the next page, continuing the same table. Then at other time I find it's automatically doing it - and I have no idea why. Any thoughts?

(Other than giving up on tables in Pages and wait till something comes out that, hopefully, will replace Excel for us Mac users) 🙂 None of the other spread sheet programs allow me to coordinate with the inspector and make the great total presentations I can do with Pages. (When I can figure out how to DO it that is)

Thanks

Hi,

If the table is set for Moves With Text it will create new pages. If it is set for Fixed on Page it will continue below the margin. You can change the ones than continue off the page to Moves With Text and the additional pages will appear. (And vice versa.)
